“Soyuz-2.1a” in orbit, the Russian army has taken over control of the new satellite
Russia’s Soyuz-2.1a rocket lifts off from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome carrying a military satellite. On May 19, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it had successfully put a terrain monitoring satellite into a predetermined orbit, and the Russian Space Force has taken over control of the new satellite. The president of Roscosmos revealed on the same day that Russia plans to launch the Luna-25 probe at the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the third quarter of 2022. The main purpose of the mission is to verify the lunar polar soft landing technology and conduct contact research in the West Antarctic region.
